The event on 7th November: “Blockchain and wearable RFID device for certified management of PAYT waste collection”

MILAN, 25th September 2019 - Partitalia srl, Italian company operating in the ICT sector since 2001, produces and markets smart cards, tags and RFID readers throughout Europe. Again this year it will be taking part in Ecomondo, the reference trade fair for innovation in the circular economy, which will be held in Rimini from 5th to 8th November 2019 - stand 006, hall A5. Partitalia will present the Easy PAYT Waste Collection system that certifies collection data by means of the Blockchain. All this will be illustrated in detail during the free event “Blockchain and wearable RFID device for certified management of PAYT waste collection”,  from 2pm to 3pm on 7th November, Sala Acero, first floor, hall A6.

Easy PAYT collection is the complete wearable solution for waste collection

At the Partitalia stand you will hear all about technological innovation for PAYT waste collection, about wearable devices and about Blockchain. In particular, the focus will be on Easy PAYT collection, the system that, using the “Discovery Mobile” RFID, scans the RFID tags on the trash bins or bags and communicates the information to a server cloud, “Discovery Cloud”, where it can be consulted. A complete solution in which the wearable RFID “Discovery Mobile” exploits the waste collector's natural gestures to facilitate waste management. Indeed, this characteristic is now a fundamental requirement for Industry 4.0, besides the fact that - as Giuseppe Andreoni, Associate Professor in the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano, R&D centre in which Partitalia currently invests - explains: «As regards specific application in urban waste collection, another essential requirement is integration in a fairly complex production, industrial or, in any case, work process, bearing in mind the environmental conditions. Waste collection involves a considerable element of physical work that must not be exacerbated by wearing technological devices».

Certification of data by means of the Blockchain and the event

Moreover, a functional technology must also be easily integrable with other systems. In our case, with Blockchain, which, thanks to its intrinsic characteristics, is confirming its reputation as a reliable system for the validation of data collected during waste collection, as will be illustrated during the meeting on 7th November: “Blockchain and wearable RFID for certified management of PAYT waste collection”. Experts in the technological and institutional fields will participate in the event. Among the speakers there will be Marco Di Marco, chairman of the Meditchain consortium, who will speak about Blockchain in the management of the waste cycle, starting from the fact that, as he says: The use of the Blockchain will certainly increase and improve some IT and electronic processes, leading to savings in money and resources that previously caused delays and increases in costs. All this can contribute to streamlining the red tape in companies but also in the public administration, benefiting consumers and citizens».

Besides Di Marco, other guests at the event include Paolo Perego, Research Fellow of the Design Department of the Politecnico di Milano, who will talk about the wearable RFID device in waste management, focussing on user experience and integration in IoT industrial processes. In the closing presentation, Fabio Adezio, Mayor of Miglianico (CH) will present the case of his town, that implemented Blockchain as the data certification system associated with the wearable RFID technology to track the PAYT waste collection process.
