Contactless cards are used in hotels at 125 kHz (low frequency – LF) or 13.56 MHz (high frequency – HF), with either vicinity or proximity technology. Wooden RFID cards, like all contactless cards, can be encoded, which enhances security.

Wooden cards can be printed using the waterless offset technique — four-colour printing combining high quality with a low environmental impact — pad printing or silkscreen printing. They can be personalised with laser or inkjet printing.
The most suitable types of wood for such processing are bamboo, cherry, lime and maple, with a choice of colour and grain. Moreover, the key mechanical features of wood — thickness and high strength — allow cards and smart cards to be produced in standard dimensions.
